This past May saw the completion and installation of “Orange Blossoms”, a large scale public art project for the traffic median on South Ave (between the Glen St. and Edward Curry Ave) on Staten Island. The project consists of six large scale works of various forms sited in intervals along the traffic median. Its a beautiful stretch of road, with wooded land on both sides, giving the bright orange ‘blossoms’ a beautiful green back drop in which to thrive. If so inclined the drive is not so bad (just dont go at 9 am or 5pm….), and once there you can see an additional two pieces of my work, “Sprung”, displayed in Richmond County Savings Bank Park, and “Sweet Tart”, sited on the approach to the Hilton Garden Inn on Lois Lane. Orange Blossoms has been an amazing project to work on, and I can’t thank Richard and Lois Nicotra and their partners the Bloomfield Foundation and the Richmond County Savings Bank Foundation enough for their vision and support.
